Body-Line FootwearFoot discomfort is often treated as a local problem, but the foot is part of a larger force chain. When pressure is concentrated, arch support is missing, or a shoe shape fights your natural structure, the effect can travel upward through the knees, hips, and spine. ALTER LAB was created to build footwear around body-line balance — not standard sizing.
By analyzing foot structure and pressure distribution, we generate supportive geometries that address individual needs with precision. Instead of adding insoles or corrections after production, support is built directly into the structure of the shoe. No glue. No assembly. No guesswork. Each ALTER LAB shoe is produced on demand to support how your body meets the ground.
Data context: foot pain prevalence has been reported at 9–30% in population studies (population cohort review), and research links foot posture/function with lower-extremity pain (biomechanics study). Custom and 3D printed insole studies show that personalized structures can influence plantar pressure distribution (3D printed insole study).
It feels different because the shoe is built around your own structure. Instead of forcing your foot into a standard last, ALTER LAB uses scan-based geometry to create toe room, zoned cushioning, and support where your body needs it. The goal is not just softness — it is a more balanced force path with every step.
The scan is the first step in understanding your body line. Using your phone and a sheet of US Letter paper, you capture your foot shape in about five minutes. From that data, we build a digital model that helps us design support zones for fit, pressure distribution, and body-line balance.
Our shoes are made with high-performance polymer materials and 3D printed lattice structures. The structure allows us to tune cushioning, rebound, flexibility, and support by zone — instead of relying on one uniform foam layer for every foot.
Because every pair is made from your scan data, we do not offer standard returns for custom-produced footwear. If the fit issue is caused by scan or data-processing error, we will review the case and provide one free reprint when eligible.
